Despite the name, La Romanee has nothing whatsoever to do with the famous Grand Cru in Vosne it’s a 1er Cru of Chassagne, perched on the rocky upper slope above the hamlet of Morgeot, where thin soils over hard limestone produce some of the most classically structured whites in the village. 2021 was a cool, frost-shortened vintage that yielded wines of restraint and verticality high acid, fine-grained texture, and a return to the old Burgundian template. Here La Romanee’s natural tension and 2021’s classical lines line up perfectly.
