Megan Bell launched Margins in 2016 with eight barrels of Clarksburg Chenin Blanc, and the variety has remained the project’s signature. This bottling is aged entirely in concrete egg – a vessel that keeps the wine in constant motion via convection currents, building texture without imparting flavor. Bell farms from organically grown grapes, works without temperature control, native yeasts only, no fining, no filtration. The egg pushes the wine toward a creamy, almost saline center while keeping the Chenin’s bright orchard fruit and citrus zip intact. One of California’s most interesting expressions of the variety.
