Joseph Colin is Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey’s younger brother, and like Pierre-Yves before him, he peeled off a few hectares from the family estate (Marc Colin) to start his own thing in 2017. Vide Bourse is one of Chassagne’s most prestigious premier crus, sitting at the foot of Batard-Montrachet (locals call this plot “Petit Batard” for good reason). Joseph farms a tiny parcel of 60-year-old vines here and makes at most three barrels a year. The 2019 is from a warm, generous, very ripe vintage; it carries that sun while keeping the chiseled mineral grip the site is famous for.
