The Dureuil family has made the village of Rully their home for centuries not much has changed since the 13th century, either. The harvest is still done entirely by hand, the vines are certified organic, and the family still looks to the natural world (the lunar calendar is very important here) to gauge when planting or harvest should take place. The D-J wines from Rully are wonderful, of course classically Burgundian in style, while achieving that elusive status of a good value. Les Margotes is a top 1er Cru white site in Rully, and Vincent’s bottling shows everything the appellation can do at the highest level: cool, stony, white-fruited Chardonnay with the kind of cut and length you expect from much further up the slope. One of the great values in white Burgundy, year in and year out.
