Weingut Andreas Schmitges is a family estate in Erden, in the heart of the Mittelmosel, working old vines on famously steep, slate-terraced slopes. This is their dry estate Riesling, now showing some maturity from the 2020 vintage, a back-vintage release that’s had a few extra years to settle into itself. Light-bodied and bone-dry, it’s classic Mosel terroir in a bottle: orchard fruit, citrus, and that unmistakable slate minerality. The extra age adds a touch of breadth without sacrificing the energy.
