If Branu is Vermentino’s easy answer, Sciala is the argument for taking the grape seriously. It comes from a selection of the best fruit around the winery in Arzachena, grown on granite soils, and it qualifies as Superiore under Gallura’s DOCG rules. Still no oak, just steel, but there’s more weight here, more depth, and a mineral, almost iodine-like character that keeps unfolding as the wine sits in the glass. Vigne Surrau built its reputation on this bottle, and it remains their calling card. Give it a little time and a real glass, not a tumbler.
