Sauvignon Blanc runs a distant third in the Russian River Valley, where Pinot Noir and Chardonnay claim most of the good ground. The growers who keep it here do so on purpose, and that conviction is most of the appeal. Matt Duffy and Sara Vaughn make this in small quantity from a corner of the valley where morning fog holds the vineyard cool well past sunrise, keeping the grape’s natural bite in place instead of letting it bake out. The result is dry, brisk and straightforward in the best sense: a house white that doesn’t need an occasion. Chill it hard and don’t overthink it.
