Trail Marker is the project of Drew Huffine and Emily Virgil a husband-and-wife team making old-world-leaning Chardonnay and Pinot from California’s cool, fog-licked corners. Drew cut his teeth at Copain, DuMol, and Kosta Browne, but the wines here go the other way: low alcohol, high acid, hands-off in the cellar, place-driven. This Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay draws from family-farmed sites high in the redwoods, where coastal fog keeps the fruit lean and bright. The wines are made in small batches and tend to disappear quickly.
