A word of clarification: despite how this label sometimes gets shelved, Jankara is its own boutique winery, not part of Santadi (the Sulcis co-op down south). Founded in 2006 by the Spanu family in the Vena di San Leonardo hills of Alta Gallura, Jankara farms eight hectares between Luras and Sant’Antonio di Gallura, in the granite-rich highlands of Sardinia’s far north. The Vermentino di Gallura Superiore is their flagship: a single-varietal expression that leans into the salty, herbal, sea-tinged side of Vermentino rather than the soft and fruity one. Drink it cold on a hot day with anything from the sea.
