Mas de Daumas Gassac is one of the world’s most singular estates the property that proved in the 1970s that the limestone-rich soils of the Languedoc could rival the great terroirs of Bordeaux and Burgundy. Aime Guibert planted here in 1971 after a Bordeaux geologist found his glacial limestone soils strikingly similar to the Cote d’Or. While the estate is most famous for its cult red, the Blanc is just as singular: a wild field blend of many varieties led by Viognier, Chardonnay, Petit Manseng and Chenin Blanc among others grown on those cool limestone soils tucked into woodland. The result is an aromatic, textural, ageworthy white unlike anything else in the South of France.
