Aged eighteen years on the eastern edge of the Scottish Highlands, The Deveron 18 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch with an easygoing, fruit-forward character. It comes from the Macduff Distillery, a coastal maker whose spirit leans bright rather than heavy. Green apple and orchard fruit run through the nose over a soft cereal note; the palate turns creamy, with honey, toffee and a late dusting of dry spice. The finish is short and clean, more fruit than oak. At 40% ABV and nearly two decades old, it drinks older than it acts, gentle enough for a newcomer to single malt yet mature enough to reward a slow evening. Serve it neat, or with a single drop of water.
