Vecino Vineyard sits in the northeast corner of Potter Valley, where late-80s Sauvignon Blanc climbs a south-facing slope above the headwaters of the Russian River sweltering days, piercing-cold nights. Erin Mitchell and Randy Czech ferment in puncheons and let the wine age unsulfured and untopped for ten months, encouraging a Jura-like flor to form. The result is a Sauvignon Blanc that’s recognizable but unexpected: tropical fruit and melon up front, savory and nutty in the background. One of California’s most original Sauvignon Blancs.
