A 15-year single malt that marries two cask types: sherry-seasoned European oak (rich, spiced, dried fruit) and sherry-seasoned American oak (sweet, vanilla, lighter). The Macallan, founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid in Craigellachie, Speyside, was among the first to receive a legal distillation license after the 1823 Excise Act. Their famously small copper stillsamong the most compact in Speysideproduce a rich, dense distillate.
