First introduced in 1998, Tanqueray Malacca Gin is based on a recipe developed by Charles Waugh Tanqueray dating back to 1839.

The gin became a cult favorite among bartenders and cocktail aficionados, but was sadly discontinued in 2001. In response to bartender demand, Tanqueray relaunched the gin in 2013, at a limited production run of 100,000 bottles.

As of May 2018, Diageo has reintroduced Malacca as a permanent addition in Canada & Australia and is available as a limited edition in the US.
