When creating Cellar Aged, we set out to do something new without forgetting who we are or what we stand for. Creating a bourbon thats always aged to taste, not time. A bourbon without the bite, thats always smooth. Aging our whisky for over a decade wasnt something we ever did. Not because we didnt believe in it, but because we hadnt found our way of doing it. In many ways, Makers Mark Cellar Aged defines an older whisky, thats distinctly Makers. One rooted in challenging convention, asking “what if” and building on a taste vision thats generations in the making. By embracing both the maturation impact of our traditional warehouse and the unique maturation impact of our Limestone Cellar, weve created an expression that’s richer and complex, without the bitterness.

The 2025 release is a blend of 11-, 13- and 14-year-old Makers Mark, delivering a fruitier, deeper and darker bourbon.

Tasting Notes:

Aroma: Vibrant with notes of dark brown sugar, caramelized oak, and baked apple.

Taste: Robust with a balance of creamy fudge, toasted almond, and ripe dark cherry.

Finish: Viscous with butterscotch, orange zest, and soft baking spice.

Im out of the 2024 release for comparisons sake, but I do have some 2023 on hand and the results are strikingly different, with 2025 more evocative of Eastern spices and the 2023 clearly showcasing chocolate overtones.” – Christopher Null, Drinkhacker (95 Points)

“My last sip is just as consistently great as the rest of them, reproducing the multi-act performance of cream, fruit, bread, and chocolate tones. The finish is long, leaving a rolling feeling like dough is being kneaded in my chest. It’s going to take a little bit of time to wipe this smirk off my face.” – Nick Anderson, Amongst The Whiskey

“Makers Mark has gone and done it again. For the third year in a row, their Cellar Aged release remains on of my favorite bottles of the year. This 2025 release of Cellar Aged builds on the success of the previous years and brings a more chocolatey character to the party with lots of fudgecicle and smore notes throughout. And while that sounds like itd be dessert in a glass, theres still just enough of that savory baked bread quality that Makers is known for to keep it from going sickly. The 2024 version had a bit more vanilla cream, while this ones addition of a zesty citrus brings nice balance to the palate and finish.” – Chris Ellis, The Whisky Study (95 Points)

“This latest Makers Mark Cellar Aged is a worthy addition to the line. In a lineup, my slight preference may be the 2024 version, but thats truly splitting hairs. Its the brands most expensive and most premium bottling for a reason: this is adroitly aged bourbon, showcasing the potential of Makers wheated mash bill and leaving few flavor quadrants unexplored.” – David Thomas Tao, Vinepair (94 Points)
