Dominique Lafon, the Meursault icon, founded Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon in 1999 to prove the Maconnais could make serious Chardonnay, farming biodynamically across the region. Vire-Clesse is its own appellation, known for fuller, riper, more textured whites off limestone slopes.
