Jerome Fornerot founded his domaine in Saint-Aubin in 2004, and over the years has built a stark stylistic consistency across his whites – precise, mineral, never overworked. The Hautes-Cotes-de-Beaune Blanc comes from parcels in Saint-Aubin (the first acquired in 2014), sitting at higher elevation than his village wines. The cool perch translates into a bright, energetic Chardonnay with real freshness and a generous serving of fruit. The 2022 now has a few years behind it and is drinking beautifully. Honest, well-made white Burgundy without any of the bells and whistles – exactly the kind of wine the appellation should produce, and exactly the kind of value Burgundy lovers should be chasing right now.
