Jean-Marc Pillot distinct from cousins Paul Pillot and Fernand & Laurent Pillot is a fourth-generation Chassagne white-wine specialist, and this Corton-Charlemagne is a tiny, almost mythical production: just a couple of barrels per vintage, made from purchased fruit sourced through his friend Blair Pethel of Domaine Dublere. 2020 was a warm, sunny vintage, and the wine shows the appellation’s signature muscularity: massive scale, intense minerality, the new oak utterly swallowed by the sheer concentration. A long-haul Grand Cru white that should reward a decade or more of cellar patience.
