Traditionally IW Harper was an export only bourbon and then only exported to Japan.

I.W.Harper Bourbon has won many awards at spirit competitions around the world.With five gold medals awarded toI.W. Harper, it became known as the Gold Medal bourbon.

I.W. Harper was launched in 1879 by the Bernheim Brothers, Issac and Bernard. Issacs first two initials were I. W., but he hesitated about using his own real last name and alternatively went with Harper instead. The brothers had two distilleries in Louisville, the first one in Shively, the second in west Louisville where Heaven Hills Bernheim Production Facility is today.
