A rye whiskey finished in custom-toasted barrelsthe first toasted rye from the Elijah Craig line. The base: fully matured Elijah Craig Straight Rye (51% rye, 35% corn, 14% malted barley), then transferred at barrel proof into a second new oak barrel toasted for nearly an hour in partnership with Independent Stave Company. At the end of toasting, a cap rapidly ramps heat to embed smoke phenols into the wood surface. The result retains its Kentucky Straight Rye classification because the finishing barrel is both new and charred, meeting all legal requirements.
