Monvigliero is the crown jewel of Verduno and one of Barolo’s most aromatic, finessed crus, and Castello di Verduno owns prime fruit at the crest of the hill. This single-vineyard Barolo is dense and structured but laced with the florals and spice that make Monvigliero famous. Farming is organic, fermentation runs long with native yeasts and a submerged cap, and aging happens in large Slavonian casks, no fining, no filtration. The 2020 is a more approachable vintage but still very much a wine to cellar. One of the great expressions of this storied site.
