Produced exclusively for the Japanese market, Blanton’s Takara Gold Edition Bourbon is one of the rarest and most sought-after whiskeys in circulation.
Aged for a minimum of 8 years, two years longer than the standard Gold variety (which typically matures for a minimum of 6), the Japanese Takara Gold is bottled at 51.5% ABV and is derived from Buffalo Trace’s #2 mash bill – estimated to contain 12-15% rye.
Distinguished by the dark red wax that surrounds the stopper and the luxuriously styled shiny gold box, no collection is complete without this stunningly rare statement piece for any serious fan of Blanton’s.
Tasting Notes:
Hints of spicy rye and tobacco on the nose, followed by caramel and honey, dark fruit and citrus notes. The palate emulates the same complex aroma with rye, tobacco, and honey. Oak and vanilla contribute to an extremely long and harmonious finish.
“Overall, I found the Blantons Takara Gold to be a complex and enjoyable bourbon that offers a unique taste experience. The fresh fruit and honey-caramel aroma are particularly noteworthy, as is the viscous and buttery palate. While the finish is not particularly long, it still provides a pleasant and satisfying end to the tasting.” – Dram Japan
