Berta Valgan ‘Seleccin Natural’ Rioja Alta 2021 is a compelling, cool climate red crafted from certified organic vineyards situated at high altitudes in Cuzcurrita de Ro Tirn. Composed of 85% Tempranillo cofermented with 10% Graciano and 5% Garnacha, this wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel and concrete before aging for 18 months in large neutral French oak barrels and concrete tanks. It beautifully bridges traditional and modern Rioja styles, revealing an aromatic profile of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, smoked paprika, sage, and forest floor. The palate is medium to full bodied with a plush, velvety density, presenting refined savory tannins and a juicy, cool toned acidity that leads into a persistent, graphite laced finish. This structured, and truly lovely Rioja is exceptional with roasted lamb, seared duck breast, or aged Manchego cheese.
