A 1994 Ardbeg 26-year-old single cask bottled in 2021 by Cadenheads without colouring or chill filtration for their Authentic Collection.

This Cadenheads 26-year-old Ardbeg 1994 matured in an ex-bourbon hogshead cask that yielded 210 bottles at its natural cask strength of 47.4%. Mid-90s Ardbegs are typically very good indeed, though they tend differ from both their 1970s and 1980s predecessors and todays modern equivalents.

Islay whiskies of this age usually have much gentler phenols than their younger counterparts, so expect gristy, meaty notes, earthy, ashy phenols, rounded vanilla sweetness, soot and citrus fruit.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Bonfire embers, cloves, pipe tobacco.

Flavour: Candied ginger, butterscotch, slow cooked brisket.

Finish: Strawberry cream, liquorice, Manhattan cocktail.
