Cornas has changed. The appellation used to make “country wine” dark, brooding, sometimes inelegant and the new generation has remade it into something that stands shoulder to shoulder with Hermitage and Cte-Rtie. Vincent Paris, nephew of the great Robert Michel, is at the center of that transformation. Granit 60 comes from his older-vine, steeper-slope sites these are special wines for cellaring. They show that Syrah is capable of the same kind of nuance and elegance as great Pinot Noir.
