Most entry-level Pinot Noir is a leftover, made from whatever didn’t make the cut for the fancy bottlings. This one is built on purpose, blended from vineyards across Sonoma County that Matt Duffy and Sara Vaughn chose for how they play off each other: cooler coastal-influenced sites for lift and freshness, warmer inland ones for fruit and flesh. The couple started the label in 2009 and still work in small lots, so this bottle gets the same attention as the single-vineyard wines. It is light on its feet, easy to open on a Tuesday, and one of the more dependable Sonoma Pinots you’ll find at this scale.
