Montosoli is one of the most celebrated crus in all of Montalcino a sun-drenched hill on the north side of town whose galestro soils produce Sangiovese of unusual elegance and aromatic lift. Valdicava owns a prime parcel here, and Vincenzo Abbruzzese bottles it separately only in the vintages that warrant it. Compared to the annata, this is the more aromatic, more chiseled face of Valdicava: lifted, mineral, and aristocratic, with the kind of detail that only a great single vineyard can give. A wine that rewards patience and a proper decant.
