Tasting
Appearance Brilliant, deep red
Nose Rich raspberry and blackberry fruits with subtle French oak vanillin characters with a touch of spice show the typical Thomas Vineyard character.
Palate Intense and rich fruit character with lovely savoury tannins giving a long lingering finish.
Ageing potential A big complex powerful wine, young and lively now but will drink well and improve with further bottle maturation for at least 10-15 years.
The perfect accompaniment to beef, lamb, duck and pasta.
Vintage
Winter started quite variable with warm nights and above average rainfall through June and July, but as spring approached temperatures were warmer and drier with very little rainfall, this continued through to December. January was very tropical with very heavy rainfall at times. The weather patterns for this vintage resulted in harvesting the grapes earlier than previous years.
