Tepozan Anejo is an additive-free anejo tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, made from 100% blue agave and rested 14 months in ex-bourbon Kentucky oak. The brand distills at NOM 1584 in San Julian and skips the sweeteners and colorants that soften many aged tequilas, so the agave stays in the frame. Creamy oak and cooked agave lead the nose, trailed by cinnamon, butterscotch, and a lift of jamaica flower. The palate is full and rounded, caramelized agave, honey, and baking spice over a deep mineral base, closing clean and gently warm. Sip it neat to read the agave clearly, or build it into an aged-tequila old fashioned.
