Even as the weather cools down, I still find myself gravitating towards lighter, easier drinking red wines,we are in SoCal after all. One of my new finds is Joey Tensleys Lite Syrah from Santa Barbara.Organically grown grapes from a chalky hillside vineyard, natural yeast, unfined and unfiltered. This winewas produced as a lighter take on the big bulky Syrahs typically found in this region. Expect thetraditional flavors of a Syrah blackberry, plum, cracked black pepper- but on a much lighter (medium)body, with gorgeous acidity and supple tannins rounding out the finish. In fact, this wine could even beclassified as a hefty chillable red. Pairs well with an herbaceous pesto pasta or a sweet glazed porkchop; pairs best with good company.
