Mary Weber Novak released Spottswoode’s first Cabernet in 1982 from the historic St. Helena estate her family purchased in 1972, and within a decade the wine was sitting alongside Napa’s most coveted bottlings. 1990 was a benchmark vintage in the valley, and Spottswoode’s version has aged exactly as the great ones do: still composed, still focused, fully resolved tannins, the fruit folded into something more savory and complex.
