Mary Weber Novak released Spottswoode’s first Cabernet in 1982 from the historic St. Helena estate her family purchased in 1972, and within a decade the wine was sitting alongside Napa’s most coveted bottlings. 1990 was a benchmark vintage in the valley, and Spottswoode’s version has aged exactly as the great ones do: composed, focused, fully resolved. In magnum, the wine has evolved more slowly and shows even more freshness and structure than the 750ml, with a longer drinking window still ahead. A rare library format from a great house.
