Pure Syrah from the iron-rich, dark mica-schist soils of Cte Brunethe more powerful, austere half of Cte-Rtie. Ren Rostaing began tending family plots in 1971; when his father-in-law Albert Dervieux retired in 1989 and uncle Marius Gentaz in 1993, he inherited their prized old vines and went full-time. Today his son Pierre manages over 20 acres of the appellation’s finest sites. This separate Cte Brune bottling (from a 0.3-hectare plot, first produced in 2013) showcases the site’s characteristic density, dark fruit, and iron-mineral backbone. Aged 1824 months in mostly older oak. Unfined, unfiltered.
