The flagship Reserva is the wine the Rodrguez family set out to make when they bought the abandoned Remelluri estate in 1967 a Rioja that could stand alongside any great wine in the world. Built from a blend of estate parcels in the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria, it sees the extended barrel and bottle aging that earns the Reserva designation, but with a fresher, more terroir-driven sensibility than old-school Rioja. The 2018 vintage was balanced and elegant, a cooler year that suits this estate’s chiseled, high-elevation style beautifully. Pour it at dinner tonight or hold it for a decade it’ll reward either choice.
