Purple Hands is Cody Wright’s own thing launched in 2005 after a teenage apprenticeship at his father Ken Wright’s Carlton winery and the Latchkey bottling is a single-vineyard window into the Dundee Hills’ deep red Jory volcanic soils. The site sits at 500 feet on a southeast aspect, 13 acres of mostly Pommard-clone Pinot Noir farmed for depth and complexity rather than power. The 2023 shows bright red and dark fruit with floral lift and savory spice, balanced acidity and fine-grained tannins. Low-intervention winemaking, classic Dundee profile, plenty of room to grow.
