Zinfandel is the grape that put Dry Creek Valley on the map, and Preston’s old-vine field-blend tradition is one of the most personal expressions of it in the region. Sourced from the estate’s older parcels and rounded out with a slug of Petite Sirah for structure (Preston’s vines are farmed organically and biodynamically Demeter certified 2015), this is brambly, peppery, generous Sonoma Zin in the old-school mold. Blackberry and black pepper on the nose, smoky black cherry on the palate, light tannins and a broad, easy texture. Pour it for the table and get out of the way.
