Seth Morgen Long is the mind behind the Willamette Valley winery, Morgen Long, and is the first winemaker in Oregon to be focused exclusively on Chardonnay from this phenomenal region. Seth got his start doing harvests in Central Otago and Santa Cruz before doing two stints at Domaine de Montille in 2012/2013. It was at de Montille that Long developed the blueprint for his work in the Willamette, and this Burgundian influence is immediately apparent when you open any one of his outstanding Chardonnay bottlings. A quick read through the Morgen Long website will leave you astounded with the obsession over the finest winemaking details, something that Seth embraces as he uses Chardonnay as a canvas to reflect his winemaking repertoire.

This 2022 X Omni Vineyard Chardonnay is one of our favorite bottlings from Morgen Long, comprised of nearly 100% Chardonnay, and less than half a percent of Aligot. The cuvee spends time in stainless, and new and used French oak puncheons through its vinification and elevage. The resulting wine is coiled with an immense amount of energy, acid, and reductive mineral character; it oozes with citrus, lemon curd, and flint reminiscent of some of our favorite white Burgundy from villages like Puligny-Montrachet.
