HOW:Using a wheated mashbill recipe, just like Weller or Pappy Van Winkle, the high corn content (70%) combined with 16% wheat and 14% malted barley creates one of the softest Bourbons around. Most Bourbons use a combination of corn and rye, which results in a spicier character, but the substitution of wheat leads to a sweeter flavor profile.

WHAT:Makers Mark was founded in Loretto, KY in 1954 by Bill Samuels, who allegedly decided on his Bourbons wheated recipe after baking a loaf of bread and deciding that no rye was the way to go. Aged for roughly six years, Markers Mark Bourbon with its iconic red wax seal has become a signature of quality that is still recognized globally. Despite its growth and incorporation into the Beam Suntory portfolio, the whiskey continues to be made with care and to the highest standard. Bottled at 45% ABV.
