Worlds Best Single Malt: 2020 (World Whiskies Awards)

Established in 1973, Hakushu is one of the highest distilleries in the world located in the forested area of Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Japanese Southern Alps. This 25 year-old whisky is a blend of single malts all produced here, some of which is heavily-peated. Some have been aged in sherry casks. And all are at least 25 years old.

Tasting Notes:

Colour: Dark amber.

Nose: Plum, cigar humidor, caramel.

Palate: Creme brulee, sage, lavender, baked pineapple.

Finish: Long, pleasantly smoked, hint of cypress (hinoki).
