Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura is a 29-year-old single malt Scotch whisky and the first Scotch finished in Japanese ex-awamori casks. Awamori is Okinawa’s ancient rice spirit, and its casks rarely leave Japan the distillery finished this whisky in them after 29 years in American and European oak. The result pours deep gold at 45.1% ABV: zesty ripe fruit and caramelised almonds up front, toasted oak and vanilla toffee across the palate, a flick of sherbet lemon and green apple, then a long, oak-driven fade. Part of the Grand Series and genuinely limited, this bottle trades between collectors more often than it gets opened. Pour it neat, no ice, for a milestone worth marking.
