A vintage matters in wine Fuenteseca Cosecha Blanco 2018 argues it should matter in tequila too. Enrique Fonseca’s La Tequilea distillery made this blanco entirely from a single orchard of agave harvested in 2018, bottling the terroir of one field in one year at 44.8 percent. Unaged, so nothing stands between you and the plant: this is tequila as a farmer’s record of a season, closer to grower Champagne in spirit than to anything on the standard shelf. Each cosecha is a one-time bottling when the 2018 is gone, that harvest is gone with it. Sip it neat in a snifter, side by side with a highland blanco, and taste what site and season actually do.
