The lower floors of our rickhouses provide slower, gentler aging. There, our Master Distillers sample barrels for multi-layered taste and aroma profiles. Among their findings, they select those that meet their strict nosing and taste criteria to become Elijah Craig 23-Year-Old Single Barrel.
This unique Bourbon has endured more than ninety Kentucky seasons, creating a distinctive aroma and taste thats definitely worth the wait.
Tasting Notes:
Nose:Buttered popcorn, with light citrus notes.
Palate:Toasted honey, cocoa and warm, sweet pipe tobacco.
Finish:Long, dry and satisfying with a sprig of mint.
“It’s the bourbon equivalent of seeing a seasoned performer, like Jerry Lee Lewis, in their later years. It still has all the showmanship of a great bourbon – fruit, caramel richness, vanilla, leather and lots of spice – but perhaps not as vigorous it was in its younger years, and slightly musty as to be expected. Still, it’s way better than something younger and immature. And with just a chip of ice might still have a few good moves on the palate.” – Amanda Schuster, Distiller
