From one of Pessac-Leognan’s most reliable Cru Classe estates, in one of Bordeaux’s most acclaimed modern vintages. The 2016 Domaine de Chevalier rouge is a classic Left Bank blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon and rounded out with Merlot, plus a touch of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Aged eighteen months in French oak, only about a third of it new, the wine balances richness with restraint, showing the freshness 2016 is celebrated for. Expect black currant, graphite, cedar, and that signature Graves smokiness, with a long ageing curve still ahead. A serious Bordeaux from a serious vintage.
