An ancient grain sets Daniel Weller Emmer Wheat Recipe apart from every other wheated Kentucky straight bourbon on the shelf: emmer, a wheat older than the pyramids and almost never seen in a modern mash bill. Buffalo Trace Distillery aged the whiskey nearly twelve years and bottled it at 94 proof as the 2023 debut of the Daniel Weller series, named for the grandfather of William Larue Weller. Fresh, nutty aromas of orange zest, hazelnut, cinnamon and caramel give way to bold oak, honey and orchard fruit, closing on baking spice and leather. This was a one-time release, so bottles trade accordingly. Pour it neat beside a standard Weller to taste exactly what the grain changes.
