PRICKLY PEAR: Xoconostle. Mexicos coat of arms bears an eagle perched on top of a prickly pear cactus devouring a rattlesnake. The design is rooted in the legend that the Aztecs would know where to build their city Tenochtitlan (now Mexico City) when they saw this scene.
