Doc’s Ranch sits next door to Cobb’s home estate Coastlands, just east of where Pinot Noir reaches the ragged edge of ripeness on the far west Sonoma Coast. Ross Cobb has farmed this east-facing site at 1,1501,200 feet since 2017, and it functions essentially as an extension of the estate. Where Coastlands tends toward depth and density, Doc’s Ranch leans aromatic and spice-driven wild strawberries, white pepper, mint, and fresh pine. The 2021 vintage delivers the searing acid and clarity that defined this great Sonoma Coast year. Made from Swan, Calera, and Pommard selections with 50% whole cluster, it’s the more lifted, dancing counterpoint to Coastlands.
