One of the wine world’s great originals, now fully mature. Chateau Musar has been making singular reds in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley since 1930, and the 2004 is an equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault from gravelly soils over limestone. Musar ages its reds for years before release, and this bottle is now in its drinking plateau: complex, savory, unmistakably itself. It’s a wine that rewards an open mind and a decanter. Nothing else tastes quite like it.
