2015 marked a return to ripeness in Bordeaux after several cooler vintages, and Lafite’s version is built for the long haul a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend that’s still very much in its primary phase a decade in. Compared to the 2005, this is a younger, denser, more fruit-forward Lafite that needs another decade to start showing the secondary complexity that defines mature First Growth. The estate continues to farm its core parcels on the deep gravels north of Pauillac with a deliberately classical approach. Buy it for the cellar.
