Saint-milion Premier Grand Cru Class, owned since 1996 by the Wertheimer family of Chanel and the wine has, frankly, never been better. Canon sits up on the limestone plateau just outside the village of Saint-milion, the terroir that gives the appellation’s most aromatic, mineral-driven wines. 2019 was an exceptional year on the Right Bank, and this is Canon at its most seamless: ripe but lifted, deeply fruited but framed by that cool limestone spine. Medium to full-bodied, fine-grained, and built for the long haul. A serious cellar candidate at a price that, for this address and this vintage, looks generous.
