Charlie Clay was born on a 2005 trip to Burgundy, where chef Charlie Palmer and winemaker Clay Mauritson found themselves at the Hospices de Beaune auction dreaming up a Pinot of their own. The result is a small-lot Russian River bottlingjust a few hundred casesthat leans Burgundian: restrained, focused, and built around the table rather than the spotlight.
